Loup TV 150: Google’s Privacy Settings; Paramount’s $6B Content Budget; Zuckerberg’s Metamates
Apple, Google , Meta , Themes

Gene and Doug discuss:

  • Google is implementing its Privacy Sandbox for Android OS, and we believe it will be more advertiser-friendly than IDFA. While some have compared Google’s changes to that of Apple, it seems that Google is allowing for proper preparation, collaboration and adoption of the new protocols.
  • CBSViacom has rebranded its name to Paramount, in accordance with its Hollywood legacy and Paramount+ streaming service. The company also plans to expend $6B on content creation or acquisition through 2024, making it a more viable future contender to Netflix and Peacock.
  • Mark Zuckerberg invites employees to refer to themselves as Metamates. This is a phrase inspired by the U.S. Navy’s colloquial saying: Ship, Shipmates, Self, and reminds us of a time when Google employees became Googlers.
